We are a group of researchers, teachers, archivists, collections managers, students, professionals, and enthusiasts engaged in exploring the contributions women have made to the emergence and development of film and television. We focus on the histories of women film and television workers and practitioners, and questions these histories raise.
Our overall aims and activities can be found our website
An important part of the WFTHN website is the Resources section, a set of interactive pages compiling information for women’s film and television history researchers and teachers under six different heads, each accompanied by a form through which users can send us additions or corrections:
- Archives, Libraries & Databases
- Conferences, Workshops & Events
- Current Research Projects
- Festivals
- Print, Online & Moving Image Publications
- Women’s Film &/or Television Organisations
In order to keep our resources up-to-date and relevant, we are seeking volunteers from among MA/PhD students who are currently researching, or interested in women’s media histories to contribute to the upkeep of these pages, adding any new materials or events found in your research or media activity.
To avoid duplication, the six resource areas will be assigned to volunteers according to individual expertise. Liaising with the Website/Social Media team and with support from Steering Group members, you would use the form provided for each page to input new information. We hope you would maintain your contribution over a one or two-year period. You would also be welcome to join the Network’s Steering Group to contribute to its general activities and especially to develop further the website’s resources.
If you are interested in participating in this growing and ever-expanding set of resources please fill in and return the application form below to christine.gledhill@gmail.com by 22 September 2022.
